LIBRE CALENDAR는 비영리 단체인 LILA와 6명의 다양한 국가의 작가들이 프리소프트웨어(자유 소프트웨어)를 이용하고 자유 라이센스를 지원하는 출판 프로젝트입니다.
캘린더 판매 수익은 8등분으로 나누어 각 6명의 작가와 비영리 단체 LILA, 프로젝트 제작에 이용된 자유소프트웨어(김프, 블렌더, 잉크스케이프, 스크리뷰스..)에 기부됩니다.

프로젝트는 이렇게 진행됩니다. 6명의 아티스트들은 각 두 달씩 맡아 작업하여 총 열두 달 분의 달력 이미지를 완성하며, 12장의 이미지 중 절반 정도는 아직 공개되지 않은 새로운 이미지입니다. 달력에 이용된 작업물의 저작권은 크리에이티브 커먼즈(CC BY 2.0)이며, 구매하시는 모든 분께 높은 해상도의 이미지를 내려받을 수 있게 링크를 보내드립니다.
달력 배송은 12월부터 시작되어, 새해 시작 전에 받아 보실 수 있을 거로 생각됩니다.
달력은 접혀있을 때 A4사이즈이며, 아직 확실히 정해지지 않았지만 적당히 두꺼운 종이로 제작 될 예정입니다. 완성 될 달력은 멋진 아티스트들과 프리소프트웨어, 자유로운 창작 공유 활동, 자유를 위한 홍보물이 될 것입니다.
페이지 가장 위에 위치한 작품들은 참여 아티스트들의 예시 작품 입니다. 저 중에 실제 달력에 들어갈 작품이 몇 점 있을 수 있으나 최종적으로 달력에 들어갈 대부분의 작품은 아직 작업중이랍니다.
패트릭 데이비드는 미국의 사진작가이자 자유 오픈소스 소프트웨어 지지자이다. 그는 리눅스 프로 매거진과 김프 매거진에서 글을 썼고, www.gimp.org에 튜토리얼들을 올려 왔다. 그의 작업 셀렉션들은 현재 그의 거실에서 전시 중!
한아렴은 한국의 젊은 독립애니메이션 작가이다. 그녀가 처음 공동감독한 단편애니메이션 "할망바다"는 다수의 영화제에서 상영되었고 두 번의 수상을 하였다. 현재 네이버 애니씨어터에서 상영 중이다. 그녀는 지금 파리의 비영리 단체 LILA에서 레지던시 아티스트로 있으며, 스튜디오 기린을 만들어 나가고 있다.
앙리 에베센은 프랑스의 3D 그래픽 디자이너이자, 블렌더 파운데이션의 인증된 트레이너이다. He works with many agencies, in particular in architecture. Self-taught, he worked with several reknown 3D artists. Among other projects, he participated to the creation of the american project "TUBE" under Bassam Kurdali. Nowadays he regularly holds talks and Workshops and co-authored in 2013 the book "La 3D libre avec Blender 2.6" with Olivier Saraja and Boris Fauret.
Gustavo Deveze lives and works in Argentina. He is an illustrator and independant animation film director. Some of his works have been published at Editorial Sudamericana, Editorial Santillana, Editorial Estrada/McMillan, Editorial Kapelusz , diario Clarín, Correo Argentin... and he regularly contributes to the comics fanzine Gorgonzola (France). He usually works with GIMP, and constantly experiments with other Free Software (TUPI, Blender, Synfig, Inkscape...).

For the past 14 years, Brian has worked as a public servant in US higher education. His passion revolves around sparking creative and innovative ideas in others. For the past 5 years, he has used Linux and Open Source Software in order to address technological and budgetary needs within the education system. His enthusiasm opened a whole new world of potential by understanding the impact and power of the Open Source Mindset on people's lives.
One page of the calendar will use some awesome render from one of the Blender Open movies. Another page will display a nearly-unreleased render used for the Blender Conference 2014.
LILA is a non-profit association under French law. They promote Art and Artists. For them, Free Software is not the end goal, but a necessary step towards a better computer graphics environment. They also actively contribute to software code of FLOSS computer graphics (one of the founders of LILA is a GIMP developer, and has also a few patches in Blender, libmypaint or Entangle for instance). Libre licenses are also very important to LILA, which is why this calendar has been placed under a Creative Common Attribution license.
LILA decided to fund this project on the hope of showcasing nice final artworks by various artists using Free Software. And of course, if we are able to fund the artists and Free Software in the same time, this project will be a triple success.
